Inquiry-Based Learning for Tomorrow's Innovators

Fostering critical thinking, creativity, and independent learning through a student-centered approach aligned with US educational standards.

Educational Philosophy

The mode of instruction at LindenHurst Preparatory School emphasizes inquiry-based learning through Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), where students are encouraged to ask questions, explore ideas, and discover knowledge through active engagement rather than passive memorization.

Our approach develops critical thinking skills, creativity, and problem-solving abilities that prepare students for success in a rapidly changing global landscape. Through inquiry-based learning, students become active participants in their education, developing curiosity, research skills, and the ability to construct knowledge through exploration and discovery. We focus on the whole child, nurturing intellectual, social, emotional, and physical development.

Students learn to think independently, express themselves confidently, and collaborate effectively with diverse peers—skills essential for leadership in the 21st century. Our inquiry-based methodology ensures that learning is not about memorizing facts, but about understanding concepts deeply, making connections, and applying knowledge in meaningful ways.

Assessment Approach

Our assessment system is designed to understand each child as an individual learner. It uses world renown adaptive tests that adjust as your child works, identifying strengths, gaps, and progress in reading, mathematics, and language arts with accuracy.

Instead of relying on occasional exams, learning is monitored continuously, allowing teachers to respond early and provide the right support at the right time. Parents and teachers can see clear evidence of progress through recognised measures, helping ensure no child is left behind and every learner is supported to grow with confidence and consistency.

Our comprehensive assessment approach includes:

  • Adaptive Testing: World-renowned assessments that adjust to each student's level, identifying strengths and gaps accurately
  • Continuous Monitoring: Real-time tracking of progress in reading, mathematics, and language arts
  • Portfolio Assessment: Collections of student work demonstrating progress over time
  • Project-Based Evaluation: Real-world problem-solving and creative application
  • Narrative Reports: Detailed progress reports focusing on individual growth areas with clear evidence of progress

Exact Path Diagnostic Assessment

Exact Path is an adaptive assessment used to assess attainment, identify gaps in learning, and support progress over time in mathematics, reading, and language arts. The diagnostic information enables teachers to adapt teaching effectively, ensuring work is well matched to pupils' starting points.

Ongoing assessment data supports timely intervention, challenge where appropriate, and clear monitoring of progress at pupil, class, and whole-school level.

WIDA Standards Alignment

WIDA (World-Class Instructional Design and Assessment) is an international framework that supports schools in teaching and assessing English language learners (ELLs). Our programme's instruction is aligned with WIDA standards, ensuring accessibility, equity, and measurable progress for learners who are developing proficiency in English.

WIDA provides standards, assessments, and guidance to help students develop academic English alongside subject learning, ensuring that English language learners receive targeted support to succeed academically while building their language skills.
